Missions through RB Community (Local, Near & Far) - an update

RB Community has been a supporter of local ministries and non-profits since our first gatherings as a church 50 years ago. We've supported North County Interfaith Community Services (interfaithservices.org) in Escondido since 1979; our congregation has helped Interfaith grow its services to meet the needs of our North County neighbors. Coming soon, we've got the return of “Undie Sunday” the weekend of September 21- 22. We'll be collecting new underwear and socks for men, women, and children living in transitional housing or those receiving assistance through North County Interfaith Community Services.

Due to our location, several "near" ministries we've supported have been helping churches throughout Baja California. Baja Presbyterian Missions supports building projects, provides Sunday School materials, and supplements pastor salaries for small but growing congregations. BPM (bajapresbyterianmissions.org) has had a hand in starting 34 churches in Baja. The weekend of October 4-5 RB Community is sending a team to help with building projects at Mt. Sinai Presbyterian Church in Tijuana. There is still time for you to join the team and have a faith-filled workday experience. If interested contact Elaine Johnson at Elaine@rbcpc.org. The Missions Outreach Ministry is paying all expenses.

And finally, we've been supporting lots of international missions for a long time. To help us meet one of those missions, Scott and Carol Wood are sponsoring an evening of appetizers and desserts to “Meet Our Missionary” on Thursday, September 26 from 5:00-7:00 in the Fellowship Hall. Kelly Kosky is the Director and Founder of Transkei Victory Christian Ministries, which reaches out to the rural tribal Xhosa villages. RB Community has been a long-time supporter of Kelly’s work with Gatyana Bible College and Grace Children’s Center. At Gatyana, men and women called into ministry receive free Biblical training in their own language, lodging and meals. Upon graduation, they are required to go into villages and preach the Word of God and share the good news of Jesus’ saving grace. Grace Children’s Center was started by generous donations and loving hearts of RB Community members. The Center is dedicated to feeding, teaching, and caring for Xhosa preschool children who would otherwise be wandering the streets. Please join us on Sept. 26 to learn more about Transkei Ministries (kellykoskyministries.com).
